IT ALL BEGINS WITH PURE LOVE FOR FOOD
OUR STORY
Where Nomi Began
Nomi Pwllheli is where our story first began.
Set on High Street in the heart of Pwllheli, our first restaurant was created by Kartik and Nomi with a simple aim, to bring modern Indian dining to North Wales with warmth, care and real personality. Before Bangor and before Porthmadog, there was Pwllheli. This was the place where the Nomi journey took its first step. It was where our ideas, our style of food, our way of looking after guests and our belief in doing things differently all came together for the first time.Pwllheli gave us our beginning. It gave us the chance to build something personal, something family run, and something rooted in the beauty and character of the Llŷn Peninsula.
Kartik And Nomi
Nomi was created by two people with very different backgrounds, but the same belief in care, detail and hospitality.
For Kartik, food has always been more than cooking. It is about discipline, flavour, presentation, timing and the feeling a guest takes away after a meal. His journey in hospitality includes experience with respected names such as The Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, Waldorf Astoria and Royal Caribbean Cruises. Those years shaped his understanding of standards, service and the small details that make a dining experience feel special. At Nomi Pwllheli, Kartik brings that experience into modern Indian food. His cooking is inspired by Indian flavours, but shaped with refined technique, balance and thoughtful presentation. It is food with roots, but also with imagination.
Nomi brings the warmth, care and personal feeling that completes the experience. Her role has always been about making sure guests feel welcomed, valued and looked after. For her, hospitality is not only about service. It is about people. It is about noticing the details, creating comfort and making the restaurant feel like a place guests want to return to.Together, Kartik and Nomi wanted to create a restaurant that reflected both of them. Indian roots, modern ideas, international hospitality and the warmth of a family run place.
That restaurant became Nomi Pwllheli.
The Original Chapter
Pwllheli will always be special to us because it was the first Nomi. Opening here was not just a business decision. It was the start of a journey. We wanted to create something different for North Wales, a restaurant where Indian food felt familiar but not ordinary, comforting but also creative, and full of flavour without losing refinement. From the beginning, Nomi was never meant to be a normal curry house. We wanted to take the flavours people love and present them with more care, more balance and more attention to detail.
The support we received in Pwllheli gave us the confidence to grow. It helped us understand our guests, shape our food, build our service and believe that Nomi could become something more.Pwllheli is where we learned, where we grew, and where the heart of Nomi was formed.
More Than A Curry House
At Nomi Pwllheli, Indian food is shaped with modern ideas, careful presentation and genuine hospitality.
Our food is inspired by the flavours of India, but the experience is about more than spice alone. It is about balance, colour, texture, service, atmosphere and the feeling guests take away after a meal. We want people to enjoy Indian food in a way that feels warm and familiar, but also fresh, thoughtful and memorable. A meal at Nomi should feel personal. It should feel cared for. It should feel different from the usual.
That is what we mean when we say Nomi is more than a curry house.
A Restaurant In The Heart Of The Llŷn Peninsula
Pwllheli is one of the most loved towns on the Llŷn Peninsula, surrounded by beaches, coastal villages, countryside and some of the most beautiful places in North Wales. The area is known for places such as Abersoch, Nefyn, Morfa Nefyn, Llanbedrog, Criccieth, Aberdaron and Porthdinllaen, along with beaches, walking routes and the coastline that make the peninsula so special.
For us, being in Pwllheli means being part of that landscape and that community.
Guests come to us after days by the sea, after visiting Abersoch, after walking near Nefyn, after time in Llanbedrog, Criccieth or Morfa Nefyn, or simply because they are looking for a warm place to enjoy dinner in Pwllheli. Nomi Pwllheli is for local families, visitors, holiday guests, couples, groups of friends and anyone exploring the Llŷn Peninsula who wants food with flavour, atmosphere and care.
We are proud to be part of this place.
Food, Wine And The Feeling Of The Evening
A restaurant is not only about the food on the plate. It is about the whole evening.
The welcome at the door. The lighting. The music. The service. The drinks. The first bite. The conversation around the table. The feeling that guests are relaxed, comfortable and properly looked after. At Nomi Pwllheli, every part of that experience matters. Kartik’s food brings together Indian flavour and modern presentation. The wine and drinks are chosen to add to the meal, not just sit beside it. The room, the service and the atmosphere are all part of what makes Nomi feel like Nomi.We want every guest to feel that they have not just gone out for dinner, but enjoyed an experience.
Built With Heart
Nomi has always been family run at heart.
It began with Kartik and Nomi, with hard work, belief and a desire to create something meaningful in North Wales. Pwllheli became the first home for that dream. From here, the journey grew to Bangor and Porthmadog, but Pwllheli will always be the original chapter. It is where our story began, where our guests first believed in us, and where the Nomi name first came to life.
Our vision remains simple. To bring modern Indian dining to North Wales with the warmth of a family home and the standards of international hospitality.Nomi Pwllheli is a modern Indian restaurant in the heart of Pwllheli, close to Abersoch, Nefyn, Llanbedrog, Criccieth, Morfa Nefyn and the beautiful coast of the Llŷn Peninsula. Rooted in Indian flavour, shaped by experience and built with care.
We look forward to welcoming you.
